QCVC Feb Break Skills Camp
Join us this February for QCVC’s Skills Camp! We have 4 different days of highly experienced and skilled coaches joining us during the week. Each day of camp focuses on a different essential skill: Tuesday Feb 20th – SERVING coached by Don Morrision. A serve is how the ball is brought into play. A good serve can put your opponent out of position, which can result in your team likely winning the point. Serves can either focus on power, accuracy, or both. It is important that all players are able to serve correctly. A good serve is accuracy and consistency, which requires practice to master. Wednesday Feb 21st – SETTING coached by Sydney and Ben Hoffman. Setting or overhead passing is the most important step in an offensive play as it determines which player gets to spike or attack. Usually a set is the second hit after a bump or dig that sets up a teammate for a spike. Setting is crucial in volleyball, as a good set can enable you to win the point with a well-placed spike, while a bad set can put your team out of position and possibly cost you the point. All players should know how to properly set. Thursday Feb 22nd – DEFENSE coached by Jacques Delorme. Defensive skills are used to stop the opposing team’s attack and save the ball from hitting the ground. In this camp you will learn different defensive skills that can be used like blocking and digging. Friday Feb 23rd – ATTACK coached by Allan Lee. Attacking, also known as hitting, is the final step in the pass-set-spike sequence and is used to score points. The most common way to do this is by hitting or spiking. Hits come in various forms, but they require good passes and sets to make them work and timing is crucial. Date and Time: Tues Feb 20th to Fri Feb 23rd 13U/14U:   9:00 – 11:00 AM 15U:          11:30 – 1:30 PM 16U/17U:   2:00 – 4 :00 PM
